Rebekah and the Slide
Lisa Kopper
Christine Parker has written this story based on her own daughter's passion for slides and reluctance to go to playschool. Rebekah's feeling of frustration at going past all her favourite slides, and apprehension on her journey to school, will strike a chord with many young children and the fact that the heroine is of mixed race could well prove especially useful. Lisa Kopper is among the still too few illustrators who can portray coloured children - of whatever race - in a sensitive manner and her pictures here live up to the high standard she set in the Jafta series.
